3. Results
3.1. Changes in weight of different floral organs
Weight increase of the whole bud in 9 d in the postharvest
room were lowest in the smallest buds; 0.53 g and 0.38 g when
the small buds were collected from plants forced at 21 ◦C/16 ◦C and
24 ◦C/21 ◦C, respectively (Table 1). However, there was a decrease
in weight from those where tepals were removed. Weights of other
bud sizes increased when tepals were not removed. However, the
increase was minimal when tepals were removed. For example,
when tepals were removed in medium-small buds, the increase in
weight was only 0.22 g and 0.39 g when buds were collected from
plants forced at 21 ◦C/16 ◦C and 24 ◦C/21 ◦C, respectively. Flower bud abscission was observed in all three smallest and mediumsmall
