Sequence numbers are assigned to reservations at creation, modification, and cancellation.
Sequence numbers do not display in order. Some sequence numbers apply to internal operations and they are not visible. For example, When a hotel is enabled for ARI, sequence numbers can be individual ARI commit triggers. If the hotel has lots of activity sequence numbers can develop at a quicker pace than usual. Missing sequence numbers are not an issue. Example
They serve multiple purposes:
•When a guest selects a room/rate in Voice Agent, Guest Connect, or Mobile Booking Engine, the systems reserve the inventory for the guest at that time (prior to confirmation.) This avoids an issue where a guest taking time to provide the payment details and to confirm the booking loses the room to a guest working more quickly. Thus, the sequence number is a transaction record associated to a reservation.
•Sequence Numbers are a Search Type option in Search Reservations. (However due to the inconsistency of the ordering, customer service does not recommend using this option.)
