In this letter we have proposed a new cooperative framework for traffic aware energy consumption in green LTE networks. We introduce a new information theoretic strategy for capturing the traffic uncertainty. Subsequently, we propose a new stochastic game theoretic algorithm to optimize the traffic traffic awareness. Optimal traffic awareness helps in reducing the energy consumption by selectively switchingon/ off the green LTE eNBs. Simulation results on a dense LTE network with 400cells demonstrate that the strategy can improve the daily average energy efficiency by ∼ 30% with ∼ 22% (40 KWatt-Hour) daily energy savings and negligible overhead.
