In 1982 Florence Hernandez-Ramos was engaged in a career as a paralegal for the state attorney general’s office. A native of Lamar ,Colorado, Hernandez-Ramos had graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder and had Denver in 1968. Morales was impressed with Hernandez-Ramos’s professionalism and her involvement in cultural activities in the Denver area. Consequently, Morales encouraged Hernandez-Ramos to apply for the CEO position at the new station. Shortly thereafter. Hernandez-Ramos had a new job and spent her first day in Washington, D.C., learning the ins and outs of public radio.
