These researchers isolated
serovar Schwarzengrund often in raw ground chicken
and Montevideo in cattle carcasses and in raw ground
beef. Fratamico (2003) also reported the isolation of S. Schwarzengrund in turkey meat as being frequent
and did not identify S. Montevideo in the chicken,
turkey or beef samples analysed. Five fresh sausage
samples were contaminated with Salmonella spp., two of
them with serovar Enteritidis.
