1. Basic Survival Craft
This one-day course is designed for all personnel working offshore. It provides the participant with a basic understanding of the capabilities and operation of the totally enclosed motor propelled survival craft (TEMPSC). The Center currently uses both Watercraft (double fall) and Survival System (single fall) survival craft. We have five operation launching davits and seven survival crafts in operation, allowing us to demonstrate winches and releasing gear. The participant will launch the craft, operate it in water, and recover it into the davit.
2. Comprehensive Survival Craft/Suit Training
USCG Approved
In this two-day course the participant will be able to identify the potential hazards encountered offshore and the proper action to take. The hands-on training covers the totally enclosed survival craft, marine and aviation liferafts, personal flotation devices, survival suits and helicopter underwater egress. This course is approved by the U.S. Coast Guard and satisfies the requirements of 46CFR 10.301-34 for MODU licenses and Table A-VI/1-1 of the Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeepping (STCW) code.
3. Personal Survival Techniques
This two day course combines classroom and in water training to teach personnel the proper actions and survival techniques to ensure safety during an emergency evacuation/abandonment from a vessel or offshore facility. Participants will also receive instruction on normal and emergency operations during transport, including helicopter underwater egress training (HUET).
4. Fast Rescue Boats
The purpose of this course is to train personnel in the proper actions involved in taking command of, launching, and handling of a Fast Rescue Craft.
Successful completion of this course will satisfy the training requirements of Table A-VI/2-2 of the STCW code; “Specification of the Minimum Standard of Competence in Fast Rescue Boats.”
5. Proficiency in Survival Craft
The purpose of this course is to train personnel in the proper actions involved in taking command of, launching, and handling of a survival craft during an emergency evacuation/abandonment.
Any applicant who has successfully completed the 32-hour Proficiency in Survival Craft course will satisfy:
1. The Survival Craft training requirements of Section A-VI/2 and Table A-VI/2-1 of the STCW Code; AND the training requirements of 46 CFR 12.10-3 (a) (6) for any endorsements as Lifeboatman, provided that sea service requirements are also met
