It’s called ‘the scratch’ because we scratch it with a tool to have horizontal lines that will help the next layer to attach to it better. Now comes the best part, the final layer for sculpting is sprayed over the scratch. For the detailed work, we had to be very careful with the amount of square metres we spray in this phase because it can be too much or not enough and that would have dictated the pace for the rest of the day.
“I love concrete because it has different phases, just after spraying you can mould it, almost like clay to create the main shape, when the concrete starts to get harder you have to change the approach, you have to cut it. When its dry you can still work on it but personally I prefer to do the sculpture when the concrete is fresh, its much faster! After the sculpture is complete we clean it and it’s ready to be painted.
