In order to suppress the spiral structure, the substitution of rare earth ions approach has been adopted in the present investigation. For this purpose, a systematic investigation of the influence of various rare earth dopents such as La, Y, Gd and Sm on the structural, magnetic and ferroelectric behavior of BiFeO3 materials is going on in this laboratory for the last few years. In the present investigation, the structural, magnetic and dielectric properties of La doped BiFeO3 (x=0, 0.1, 0.15 and 0.2) have been taken up. Infact, doping of La in BiFeO3 improves its crystallization leading to a single phase. La doping also significantly reduces the electric leakage and enhances the ferromagnetic moment.
