Wheatgrass Research - Charles Schnabel and other scientists began studying wheatgrass in 1932. They determined the best climate, location, soils and stage of growth for highest nutritional density. They developed equipment to dry the wheatgrass at low temperatures. Pines follows these growing, harvesting, drying and packaging standards established by Dr. Schnabel.
Never Grown in Greenhouses or Trays
Pines Wheat Grass is grown in the same kind of glacial soils that produced the most nutritious wheatgrass in the research. It matures slowly, outdoors, during cold months. Freezing nighttime temperatures and cold days convert months of full sunlight into nutritional density, while the plant remains a short grass.

Shipping Weight:
In addition to packaging, the shipping weight also includes the dimensional weight of each product: Products such as bags of chips that have a light weight relative to their size, have a higher shipping weight. This is due to the fact that shipping companies, when using air services, pay transportation fees mostly based on the space they rent. Please note that products in glass containers will also have a higher shipping weight. Domestic orders shipped using Expedited 1-5 Day and FedEx SmartPost 2-8 Day are not affected by shipping weight, as they are priced at either a flat rate or are free of charge.
Expiration Date
The length of time for the expiration date or "best used before" date depends on the type of product, as well as the brand.
Perishable items (such as flax oils or certain probiotics) generally have shorter expiration dates. Although our warehouse is fully air-conditioned, these more fragile items are put in cold storage (freezer or refrigeration unit) for maximum freshness.
Our receiving department does its best to verify and then enter the correct expiration dates for all incoming products. However, discrepancies do occur from time to time. This being said, the exceptionally high turnover at iHerb ensures that our inventory is among the freshest in the industry.
