DEFINITIONS
4.1 Dilon 6800 Gamma Camera
The Dilon 6800 is a small field-of-view gamma camera used for general nuclear medicine procedures,
including breast cancer detection. The active area of the detector is 6 inch x 8 inch.
4.2 GammaLoc Accessory
The GammaLoc system is an accessory to the Dilon 6800 gamma camera used to localize breast cancer
lesions for biopsy. The system uses a stereo-viewing collimator to determine the depth of the lesion from a
set of stereo images of the breast.
4.3 Fiducial Source
The fiducial source is mounted in the breast compression paddle and used as a reference to determine the
location (height) of the paddle during the stereo imaging of the breast.
4.4 Marker Source
The marker source is inserted into the incision in the breast prior to the biopsy and imaged (typically 300
seconds). This marker serves as a reference to ensure that the incision has been made to the correct location.
