Happy Friday! I have found that many of you would argue that one’s ultimate goal in life should be to achieve happiness—not the fake/shallow/materialistic kind, but lasting, meaningful happiness. However, this Friday, I would like to give you a little food for thought. I would like to suggest to you that maybe, just maybe, we have this all wrong. When we look at great historical figures—the ones that “changed the world”—rarely do they have nice, happy lives. Perhaps more importantly, they never go about changing the world in order to achieve their own happiness. Each of these people is seeking to do something great that is not for their own benefit. I think there is a very great possibility that our goal here on earth should not be merely to seek and find our own happiness, but rather to do this for others. And then maybe, just maybe, we’ll end up happy along the way.
