Certificates certifying compliance with the US Federal Flammability Act must accompany all children’s apparel
products. See Annex 1.
Although a certificate certifying compliance with flammability requirements must accompany all children’s
apparel products, many textile materials are exempt from testing, so that no testing is required.
Textile materials exempt from testing are:
1) Plain surface fabric weighting 2.6 ounces (or 74 grams) per square yard or more; or
2) Fabric made only from one or a combination of: acrylic, nylon, polyester, modacrylic, olefin and
wool, or
3) Interlining fabrics.
If the textile material fits within the scope of these exemptions, a certificate must still be provided; however, you
shall check the appropriate box indicating it is ‘exempt’ from testing.
Note: Textile materials used on ALL apparel products, including Adult, shall still meet the US Federal
Flammability Act. Testing on the material shall continue to be conducted.
