The electronic stability programme (ESP) works together with the ABS. The ESP in cludes the electronic differential lock (EDL) and the traction control system (TCS).
The ESP switches on automatically when the engine is turned on. It can, if necessary, be switched on and off by pressing the button.
When the system is switched off, the ESP warning lamp will light up-see page 20.
The ESP should always be switched on under normal circumstances. Only in certain cases, when wheel spin is required, is it advantageous to switch off the system.
For example
- when driving with snow chains
- when driving in deep snow or on a loose surface
- when freeing the vehicle if it is stuck.
