The next step the research process is to establish the research design---that is, the structural component. In this step, the researcher designs a study to answer the questions created in the earlier steps. To do so, the researcher chooses a type of research design (qualitative, quan-titative, or mixed-methods); performs sampling, which means selecting subjects to be used in the study; and assures that the study’s findings will be both reliable and valid.
