2.2.2. Ratification of international conventions
There are a series of international conventions regulating the carriage of goods by different modes, such as the International Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules of Law Relating to Bills of Lading (otherwise known as the “Hague Rules”). Interna- tional uniformity has to some degree been achieved with regard to unimodal transport, but there are no universally accepted rules for regulating multimodal transport; in particular, the UN Convention on International Multimodal Transport of Goods did not in practice achieve its intended acceptance (Mukherjee & Bokareva, 2010). So far, China has only ratified the Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules Relating to International Carriage by Air and its substitute Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules for International Carriage by Air.
