The differentiation of Th1, Th2 and Th17 cells is triggered
by IL-12 and interferon (IFN) γ, IL-2 and IL-4 and IL-6,
TGFβ, IL-21 and IL-23, respectively. Th1 responses are
characterised by the production of IL-2 and IFNγ, which
promote protective immunity against fungal infection through
activation of phagocytes, antigen presentation by antigen presenting
cells and production of opsonising antibodies
