Using wastewater after lipid fermentation as substrate for bacterial cellulose production by Gluconacetobacter xylinus
To fulfill rational utilization of lipid fermentation wastewater,
the possibility of using this substrate for BC production was initially
evaluated. During the fermentation on this new kind of substrate,
the law of product generation, substrate degradation, and variation
of product structure were also learned. By this study, the possibility
of bioconversion from low value carbohydrate polymer (extracellular
polysaccharides in lipid fermentation wastewater)to high value
carbohydrate polymer (BC) can be proven.
