Check if the manometer needle is on Zero without gas flow. If not,
the manometer will require a calibration. Refer to the Technical
Manual for calibration instructions.
• Connect a supply of oxygen or blended oxygen/air to the resuscitator
by connecting the gas supply line to the gas inlet on the side of the
NeoGuard 3000.
• Connect the t-piece resuscitation circuit to the outlet that reads ‘To
Patient’ and connect a test lung to the circuit at the patient connection
end.
• Ensure all connections are secure.
• Set flow rate from gas supply between 5-10LPM or as prescribed
by clinician.
• Check Pressure Safety setting by occluding the green Positive End
Expiratory Pressure (PEEP) controller on the t-piece circuit with your
thumb and open the Max. Pressure Relief controller on the resuscitator
completely by turning clockwise until you are unable to turn. The
pressure manometer gauge on the resuscitator will show the maximum
pressure relief.
• To adjust the maximum pressure relief, occlude the green PEEP
controller and adjust the Max. Pressure Relief controller. Clockwise
to increase and anticlockwise to decrease.
• Check Peak Inspiratory Pressure (PIP) by occluding the green PEEP
dial on the t-piece circuit with your thumb and checking the pressure
manometer. To adjust the PIP, turn the controller on the resuscitator
that states Peak Inspiratory Pressure Adjust. Turn clockwise to
increase and anticlockwise to decrease. All changes are viewable on
the manometer when the green PEEP valve is occluded.
• Check PEEP by looking at the pressure manometer whilst turning
green PEEP dial on the t-piece of the resuscitation circuit. Turn
clockwise to increase and anticlockwise to decrease.
Caution: DO NOT occlude green PEEP hole to check PEEP.
• Restrict test lung to ensure you are meeting the desired PIP and
PEEP settings for resuscitation as shown on the manometer, if
achieved, the resuscitator is ready for use.
Section 3 : Resuscitation
• Set up the resuscitator according to Section 2: Set Up
• Only use the NeoGuard 3000 resuscitator when the desired
pressure are achieved during Section 2: Set Up
• Connect mask to the patient connector and place over the patient’s
mouth and nose or if an airway is used, connect the airway to the
patient end of the connector and insert into the patient.
• Resuscitate by occluding and lifting thumb on green PEEP controller
at desired inspiratory and expiratory rates.
