Most die casting plants have experienced the problem of bent or broken ejector pins.
The die opens and the ejector plate goes forward but one or more of the pins ends up bent like a banana behind the moving die block. Sometimes they snap off completely. Sometimes the end of a pin becomes bent and it gets dragged back into the ejector pin hole where it does damage to the cavity. The casting is often completely destroyed. Sometimes the die keeps functioning with a snapped off pin which causes a protrusion to the part. The cost to sort the parts and repair the die can be very high.
