Fire-fighting and rescue operations started shortly after the crash," the report said. The aircraft was destroyed by the impact and the ensuing fire. The two apartment buildings were partly destroyed, and later demolished. The report described the wreckage pattern: "The initial impact area in the frontal face of the buildings was small. Pavement and walkways along the initial impact area, and rather high trees immediately in front of the building remained undamaged. Most of the structure in front of the wings of the aircraft was recovered from this area. Parts of the cockpit section, cockpit interior, controls and human remains of the crew were recovered at the right hand side of the apex [of the two buildings].
