the date was set for June 20th. the principal told us it would cost six dollars each. this year he said we were to go by train which would be a change from previous years.
we assembled at the school at 9 o'clock and by 9:30 we were aboard the train. it was a good arrangement. each car held two classes.three cars were added to the regular train so that there would be enough room for other passengers. As our classes were only about thirty each there was plenty of room.
we were there by twelve and each class went with its teacher to lunch. then the guides came and took us for a tour of west point and finally by the river where we were to have a snack.
we were on the train again by six o'clock. we had never needed the raincoats everyone was carrying.
