:It can be concluded that there are various interacting factors controlling the water quality in Klong Saen Saeb and the following factors contribute to the odour problems:
Excessive organic inputs from tributaries, households, businesses and industries, point- and non-pont sources
Too much sediments in the water and on the bottom which causes a high oxygen demand
Sediments are easily resuspended due to the shallow depth and turbulence from the boats
Waves from the boats are not dissipated duet o the fast speed of water taxi boats and the vertical nature of the walls; as a result waves last an excessviely long time and exacerbate the sediment resuspension
Industries located a long the klongs are unregulated and/or not monitored (e.g. Bang Chan Industrial Estate), therefore there are large inputs of chemicals such as oil (ocygen demand,odours) regularly discharged to the klongs.
