Conclusion
The proposed system will take advantages of the latest developed methodologies in knowledge
engineering, classification, grouping, and available technologies in computer .software especially relational
databases and rule-based systems. All too often the misunderstanding is that GT is another term for
classification and coding technique to group parts into families to support the creation of dedicated
manufacturing cells. The group technology sy~ems are much more extensive and sophisticated in their
capabilities. A major part of manufacturing is a series of data-processing operations. All manufacturing
tasks require creating, ~oring, transmitting, analyzing and modifying data. There is a need to automate
and integrate these data manipulating functions and the total solution could be achieved through GT
application and feature-based modeling.
