While in Mueang Chan, a lazy stroll through the old town and gem market is a must. Phenomenal food can be scored in nondescript shophouses and cosy markets throughout town, but make it a point to sample the old style eastern Thai cuisine at Chantorn Restaurant. If you're a history and culture buff, Chan's temples, churches, shrines and other century-old architecture will leave you fascinated. The town itself is conducive to walking, and while a half-day would be enough to soak up the sights, you could easily lose yourself in the city of the moon's laid back air for several days.
