The qualitative data from Wajcman’s (1998) study of practicing senior managers indicate that workers tend to perceive female manager as having an “inclusive” and “soft” leadership style and male managers as having a “controlling” and “hard” style. Wajcman’s critical study of women in management roles compares the perceptions of both male and female followers of both senior male and female managers.
