Can strong cohesive cultures hinder Innovation?
Creative individuals are usually characterized by personality traits such as the need for independence, a preference for non-conformity, a requirement for chal-lenging work and complexity, and a playful, sometimes even childlike, attitube (Nemeth,1997). Highly creative employees are also often stereotyped as prima donnas, characters that force their views and seek to dominate discussions, and are commonly portrayed as “lone riders”, distant from close interpersonal work rela-tions. One would expect that such individuals would not want to belong to highly cohesive, strong organizational cultures. At first glance strong cultures that
