SHSD uses three criteria to determine if a process is
essential to learning: (1) it is critical to achieving SHSD’s vision
to develop life-long learners and its mission to serve the education
needs of the community; (2) it involves the majority of
SHSD’s faculty, staff, and capital resources in producing value
related to student learning and development; and (3) it directly
addresses the district’s key success factors and, in turn, impacts
student and stakeholder satisfaction. SHSD’s key learningcentered
processes and the value created by each (Figure 6.1-2)
are described below.
