3.1. Demographic characteristics of the study patients
Of the 46 patients assessed, the histological findings for the noncancerous
tissue classified 14 (30.4%) into the NL group, 20 (43.5%)
into the CH/LF group and 12 (26.1%) into the LC group. The
percentage of patients requiring major hepatic resection of more
than lobectomy was 17 (37%). The baseline characteristics of the
liver cancer and pathological findings in the non-cancerous
portions were well matched among the three groups, except for
the incidence of viral hepatitis and some biochemical test including
indocyanine green test (ICG test), AST and T-Bil levels abnormalities
(Table 1). Detection of HBV or HCV, presence of abnormality in the
ICG test, AST and T-Bil levels were higher in the LC groups than in
the NL group.
