The main reasons participants elected to join the Liverpool Hospital team challenge included ‘to have a healthier lifestyle’ (32.9%), ‘to lose weight’ (22.4%), and ‘to do something fun with my colleagues’ (20.6%). Encouragement from colleagues (32.6%), as well as the pedometer and the 10,000 steps website (45.1%), were the two main motivating factors to keep people going during the challenge. Over three quarters of participants (78%) used the 10,000 steps website daily, weekly or several times a week to log their steps and 53% of participants found this a very useful or useful process.The information provided in the healthy food logbook was read by most participants (91.6%). However, only 57.1% of participants found this useful or very useful. Furthermore, only just over half the participants (52.2%) claimed they fully completed their logbooks and more than a third (34.8%) found this somewhat difficult, difficult or very difficult
