Three European countries experienced large Asian migrations connected with decolonization after World War II: the Netherlands from the former Netherlands East Indies (Indonesia); France from Vietnam; and the United Kingdom from the Indian subcontinent and Hong Kong. There were also some smaller movements, like those from Goa, Macau, and East Timor to Portugal. Such movements had declined considerably by the late 1970s.
