This work is about an application that has been development with a client-server architecture to visualize CAD files used in a manufacture department, it is orientated to mobile devices based on Apple’s mobile operating system (iOS). The client application was designed and implemented using the IDE development: XCode (Apple’s property), in the other hand the server application was based on the infrastructure offered by the data repository (Dropbox), these data are consulted through its urls directions lodged and organized in database tables designed using PostgreSQL.
The objective was to create an intuitive application easy to be used with the finality that the different departments related to the manufacture could access it at the same time by its own mobile device, and make possible to use the models and the product information with its particular proposes.
CONCLUSION
The orientation of this project is to vinculate the design with the industry’s processes, principaly in the sense ok making efficient the disposition of models designed in CAD software.
Considering the last, it’s achieve to integrate new technologies and use them to have benefits inside an interdiciplinary approach.
The application’s advanteges over the similar applications are the following:
Ø Having a tool to visualize 3D contents. Ø Having designs with the information always available, because they are lodged in the cloud. Ø Panoramic models and zoom inspection with the intuitive iPad gestures. Ø Allowing an efficient, rapid an real modelling. Ø Modernizing and updating on real time the models infromation.
It was achieve to create an application that allows visualize 3D models with its information, and moreover it was validated on three iPad devices from different generations, comfirmming its funcionality.
