MCAC's Translation:
Earlier this morning, a robber attempted to steal an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and a Cash Deposit Machine (CDM) from a bank at Kuala Besut, Jertih.
However, their attempt failed. The ATM was left on the road in front of the bank while the CDM has shifted from its original position.
Besut district police chief, Superintendent Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said that the police received information from the security company that the bank's alarm had gone off at 5.35am.
The police rushed to the bank's location to investigate.
The police found that the bank's doors were broken and that the machines have been moved.
Based on the CCTV recordings, it was found that a man had stepped out of a vehicle and proceeded to pry open the bank's entrance with a "kuku kambing" and small hoe. The man had then tried to tie the ATM with a rope.
The suspect then tried to pull the ATM. He also tried to break it open but failed to do so. Then, he ran away.
Investigations are ongoing to identify and hunt the suspects in this case.
