The sunflower seeds were carefully selected, and damaged or empty seed hulls were discarded. The seeds were sterilized and immersed in the tested solutions for 15 h, at a constant temperature of 25 °C. This process was performed to speed up the germination process and to ensure a complete imbibition of the tested solutions without being influenced by the water from the soil. After the imbibition process the seeds were sown in the soil. The seedling was manually done, 100 seeds for each experimental variant. Water absorption by the roots system takes place both by active and passive way (Evans and Caemmerer, 1996).
