A plant is an organical Body, to which a Root and Seed is efficial; this body usually produces Leaves, Stalks and Flowers:It confifts in all it Parts of Pipes os Channels; the one containing those Juices which are necessary for the vegetations of the plants, and serves for Veins and Arteries by conveying the juice to the top of the plant, and back again to the very root; the other are full of air, and ought to be looked upon as it were the lungs of the plants; they are called Treces bythe illustrious Malphigi, who was the first discoverer of this admirable structure. There two sorts of weffels are united in the stalks and difpersed in the root and branches : they do not immediately join with one another, but leave Intervals between, that are filled.
