compared the ability of two wavelet based damage detection approaches to find the location and the size of a crack in simply supported beams with one crack subjected to a moving load. In the first approach, called as ‘Fixed Sensor Approach’, a sensor is assumed to be located at the mid span of the beam. Thus in this approach, CWT coefficient of the time varying deflection attributed to the mid span of the beam is used. In the second approach, called as ‘Moving Sensor Approach’, the sensor is attached to load and moves along the beam. The CWT coefficient of data obtained from such sensor is analyzed. They showed that the moving sensor approach is more effective than the fixed sensor approach.
