The internal auditors must have a superior level of theoretical knowledge and practical experience in order to
successfully accomplish their role. They must know the possible fraud schemes and scenarios that are specific to an
organisation’s field of work (for example insurances, retail, telecommunications, etc.) and be able to recognise the
signs of a possible fraud scheme.
For the implementation of all these above-mentioned, there is a considerable need to invest in the specialisation
of the internal auditors by financing courses in certain fields. Other organisations contact external specialists (on the
basis of a service contract) in order to conduct the task of auditing, thinking that in this way they receive high-level
specialists at a relative modest price
