ADULT MOVEMENTS
Walking
The walk of a dog is a four-beat gait in which each foot touches the ground at a different time .
Each hind foot is placed less than one quarter of a cycle before the forelimb on the same side. In the walk, there are typically two or three feet on the ground at anyone time.
Three feet on the ground at one time is the most common and at no time are there less than two on the ground) In a really slow walk, all four feet may touch the ground at a time but briefly.
The gait is described as symmetric because the movements during the second half of a complete stride are a mirror image of those during the first half.
