However, based on various findings, there is a growing need for
an advance in technology and demands of the thermostat for
heating due to an increase in the demand for consumer-oriented
buildings and the rise in the standard of living.
In the late 1980s, the Ministry of Power Source in Korea passed
a law that specifies each household should have an automatic
thermostatic valve in their heating system. Almost all households
use imported thermostats due to the lack of domestic technologies
and facilities. However, the imported thermostat is not appropriate
for use in domestic floor heating systems in Korea. Although
automatic thermostatic valves for sensing air temperature and
water temperature are manufactured in Korea, studies and data are
poor on the characteristics, heat amount control results, and
energy-saving efficiency.
Thus, in this study, control characteristics and heating performance
for a radiant slab heating system with automatic thermostatic
valves in residential apartments are researched using
computer simulation, and experimental data is used to verify their
applicability
