III. STUDY RESULTS
A survey comprised of 60 questions was sent to the 26
members of the Skills Team. The survey was designed to
determine the extent that individual team members were able to
work together and remain in a positive work environment. The
questions in the survey were drawn from the research literature
and have been applied in previous studies on group
effectiveness, leadership, teams, and virtual teams [2] [3] [8]
[15]. In all, 23 members participated in the survey for a
response rate of 88.5%. Interviews were also scheduled for
each of the participants in the study. The interviews were
unstructured, and between 40 and 60 minutes in duration. The
opening questions for the interview asked participants to
describe a situation that is an example of the benefits of the
virtual approach to the Skills Team and one that sheds light on
the challenges.
