Antibiotic resistant isolateswere subjected to PCR for detection of antimicrobial resistance determinants and class 1 integrons. Total genomic DNA was extracted using the method of Ausubel et al.and PCR reactions were performed on a MJ Research PTC-200 Thermal Cycler. The class 1 integrons screening was performed with primers for the integrase gene intl1 and for the variable region of the class 1 integrons CS5′/CS3′ as previously described.
