It is well documented that alteration in the structure of myosin brings about changes in the actin activated ATPase activity of myosin.
It is observed that the activity of ATPase enzyme from sardine actomyosin decreased in the presence of zinc salts.
The ATPase enzyme activity of actomyosin was not affected at very low concentrations of zinc. Higher concentrations of zinc salts showed a decrease in the activity of ATPase and it is totally inhibited at concentration of 1 103 M. ATPase enzyme activity of fish actomyosin follows a bimodal pattern with optimum activity at pH 7.0 and 9.0 [15].
