3.2. Probiotic adhesion to Caco-2 cells
Fig. 2 presents the results from the adhesion abilities of
L. plantarum C4 and L. rhamnosus GG cells to a Caco-2 intestinal
epithelial cell line model. For L. plantarum C4 the adhesion reached
a mean value of 266.67 ± 85.50 bacterial cells per Caco-2 cell. This
microorganism was seen to be significantly more adhesive than
L. rhamnosus GG (151.25 ± 20.50 cells/Caco-2) (P < 0.05).
