The communication experiments demonstrate the efficacy
of the proposed data communication method in terms of
its robustness against data loss. By transmitting the same
payload of coded data instead of the original sensor data, the
proposed method is able to withstand data loss up to 30%
and still provides lossless reconstruction of the original sensor
data with overwhelming probability. This result represents
a significant improvement of data transmission reliability of
wireless SHM systems. The tradeoff made is using slightly
more computations in exchange for enhanced reliability of
subsequent data transmission. It has a great potential to
overcome the data loss problems for wireless SHM systems.
