The antioxidant capacity of biodegradable films with differ-ent concentrations of CG and CFwas determined using the DPPH method and expressed as DPPH radical scavenging capacity (I)(Table 2). The effects of CG and CF are illustrated in the response graph (Fig. 1). This assay is based on the reduction of DPPH, a stable organic nitrogen radical that reacts with the antioxidant sample and causes a discoloration of the solution. Although DPPD has no similarity to the biological radicals involved in lipid peroxidation (Huang et al., 2005), the method may serve as a guide to indicatethe potential antioxidant capacity of the sample of interest.
