Hello all,
I hope you all had a great holiday season and I wish you all a Happy New Year.
As you are aware, we finished FY2014 with another good EHS performance. We have already gone through the first quarter of FY2015 and thus far our EHS performance is very strong thanks to everyone’s work and dedication. As you may have seen in Joe’s email with December’s safety report, we have closed Q1 of FY2015 with a company-wide TRIR of 0.23 and LTIR of 0.06; compared to 0.40 and 0.15 respectively for the same period in FY2014. Let’s continue that good path!
FY2015 is going to be another very exciting and interesting year for Covidien. This year we will see many activities going on – last year of our Waste Reduction policy, first year of our Water Policy, new product launches, the Medtronic transaction, integration projects, etc. We’d like for all of us not to lose our focus or get distracted. We must ensure that our EHS goals and objectives are maintained on track and that we are able to adapt as different initiatives occur. Please, count on me and my team to provide support, guidance and assistance.
Our trends analyses show us that during winter months we see an increase in slip/trip/fall type of incidents. Please, remain observant of the conditions at your sites and implement your mitigation plans. Reach out to the employees and keep safe thinking in their minds. I’m attaching a document shared with us by the North Haven plant, which they used to raise the personnel awareness during this period. You may use this document as a guide to raise awareness and attention. Beyond winter concerns, take advantage of the Safety Alerts we publish and share them with our employees.
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please contact me or anyone in my team.
