Shreds are process-related particles of internal coating during stamping of the coated sheets
to form the cap shells. An air pressure blowing unit at the press stamping and a brushvacuum
system along the conveyor are installed to remove the shreds. The inside of the caps
is checked, afterwards, with an on-line camera for any dirt.
Shreds that remain on the surface of the cap’s face cannot be avoided completely due to
technological reasons. The shreds level of this order is typical and even more visible for darkcolored
caps.
The internal coatings used in the manufacture of SWC closures comply with the
compositional requirements of the EU legislation Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004.
Additionally, the internal coatings are in compliance with the requirements of EU Regulation
(EC) No 1895/2005 on the restriction of use of certain epoxy derivatives in materials and
articles intended to come into contact with food.
