HONORING COMBAT NURSES
I was a platoon medic with the
1st Cavalry Division in 1966,
dur ing the Vietnam War (“The
Vietnam Women’s Memorial:
Better Late than Never,” May).
I suffer from posttraumatic stress
disorder (PTSD) but didn’t realize
it until my wife, who is an NP,
suggested that I be evaluated.
A veterans’ center provides me
with therapy, which has helped
tremendously. I encourage anyone
with PTSD symptoms to
seek assistance from such a facility.
I was at the ceremony commemorating
the 15th anniversary
of the Vietnam Women’s Memorial.
The monument is an awesome
display and well deserved
by our combat nurses.
