There is no occurrence of significant AARs on event day and even for five days continued before and after the announcement during the period of 2009-10. It is evident that all the significant AARs are positive except on t+8 day. Likewise, positive AARs are found significant only for one day at 5 per cent level before announcement. Moreover, these have been found significant on t+6, t+8, t+11 and t+12 day at 5 per cent level. AARs calculated by Sharpe Single Index are occurred significant in all the years of the study period. However, there is no single period, which is having significant AARs on event day. Therefore, null hypothesis i.e. there is no significant difference between the AARs around dividend announcement, can‟t be accepted
