In summary, the evidence indicates that fluoride levels in whole saliva
rise for 30-60 min after fluoridated milk ingestion, and that this rise is
due to re-secretion of absorbed fluoride via salivary glands, as well as
retained milk fluoride. Plaque fluoride levels also increase, over more
prolonged periods than saliva fluoride; while the evidence of a change
in salivary and plaque microbial composition due to fluoridated milk
consumption is mostly rather negative.
