Thanks to the likes of its REVlite and Fresh Foam technologies, New Balance has done well as of late to modernize some of its most iconic silhouettes. Now the American brand is taking that archival DNA and contemporary tech to introduce a brand new silhouette for the new year. Simply — and aptly — dubbed the 2016, the new shoe comes courtesy of New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio and takes cues from classic styles to create a shoe 2015 is coming to and end, but before the ball drops New Balance wants to debut their new model that will go by the name of the New Balance 2016. Are you confused yet? No? Good. Said to be inspired by the New Balance 1600, the New Balance 2016 is a modern and more updated version of the aforementioned silhouette.
The first thing you notice on the New Balance 2016 is the removal of layers and panels in favor of a one-piece upper that takes care of the majority of the shoe. The N branding we’re used to seeing on the sides is still there (barely), but it comes in the form of laser perforations. The NB 2016 is also said to have a few features you see on the 997 and 1500, those features can be found on the heel area of the shoe.
